Comprehensive and general ophthalmology
Comprehensive and general ophthalmology encompasses the full range of eye disease from paediatric ophthalmic conditions, through to age related macular degeneration. Procedures such as the removal of corneal foreign bodies, or the treatment of severe conjunctivitis are common.
General ophthalmology includes both medical conditions such as herpetic eye disease and diabetic retinopathy, as well as surgical conditions such as the removal of eyelid skin cancers and surgical emergency treatment of acute angle closure glaucoma.
FOREIGN BODY REMOVAL
The safest way to remove a metallic corneal foreign body is to use the largest needle manipulated under high magnification.
HERPETIC EYE DISEASE
Herpetic eye disease may occur repeatedly over the entire course of the patient’s life.
DIABETIC RETINOPATHY
Severe diabetic retinopathy needing intravitreal injections as well as extensive retinal laser treatment.
